Obama: No mas to more debates.

Thu, 17 Apr 2008 19:49:37 PDT
Politics: Awww, Black Jesus didn't get another chance to cast his aura over the land and got asked questions where he stumbled around like a drunk. Now he is pouting and wants no more debates where he can be exposed. Sen. Barack Obama on Thursday suggested he doesn’t see any point in having another debate with Democratic rival Sen. Hillary Clinton. Clinton has agreed to a debate next week, but Obama has not yet accepted the invitation. At an appearance in Raleigh, North Carolina, Obama said

Who Put The Ultra In Ultra-Orthodox?

Thu, 17 Apr 2008 18:16:38 PDT
In a recent opinion piece in the Forward, Abbot Katz objected to the term "Ultra-Orthodox" (link). I happen to agree that the term "ultra" has a negative connotation to it, and is therefore objectionable. However, Katz goes farther and objects to people considering R. Moshe Sofer, the Chasam Sofer, as the beginning of Ultra-Orthodoxy: “Ultra-Orthodox” manages to presume itself into Gorenberg’s treatment rather often, most irritatingly in his citation of the great early 19th-century German-Hungar

Google Geek Girl Dinner

Thu, 17 Apr 2008 18:44:09 PDT
Getting together with a whole bunch of geeky women and talking about interesting developments in IT in a toy-filled environment. That's a great way to spend the evening! Especially with speakers such as Rob Pike, Lindsay Ratcliffe and Stephanie Hannon. Google provided the venue and catered the event. Google's Sydney office is right in the centre of town. It's a friendly, open environment full of geek toys (eg a Guitar Hero setup in the cafe) as well as wonderful and interesting people to chat

Street Fight Dvd Review

Mon, 17 Mar 2008 05:08:38 PDT
Local politics are on blast in this amazing documentary that highlights how politics are horrible. Seriously, horrible! The film surrounds a 2002 Mayoral race in Newark, New Jersey between Cory Booker & Sharpe James. This movie is urgent. This movie is not just a portrait of corruption, scandals, and how politics are so corrupt, it is a symbol of change and substance that we are hearing about today. This movie shook my foundation. THis movie shoved the political system into my face, and

ABC News is a Bunch of Amateurs

Wednesday night's debate in Pennsylvania looked like a reasonably produced college of journalism production at some conservative university where the students all strived to one day sit in Sean Hannity’s anchor chair at FOX news.

Newsworld jobs: I’m sure it’s just a coincidence…

Mon, 07 Apr 2008 10:59:10 PDT
Ten new CBC News jobs in Calgary were posted this morning. These, presumably, are part of the people given back to Alberta after CBC moved — er, “reconfigured” — CBC Newsworld programming from Calgary to Toronto: 4 reporter/editors Video-journalist 4 videgraphers Switcher-Director In what I’m sure is just a coincidence, only two positions are posted for Toronto this morning: Specialist in “Contract Management” Specialist in Automation

3-0 Means…..

Thu, 17 Apr 2008 09:40:57 PDT
I don’t think we can take things whole cloth from the Lakers sweep of Denver during the regular season. For one, all three games were played in January or earlier — before the Lakers made the Gasol trade. The Nuggets are not quite the same team as back then, either. Plus, in two of the three games Carmelo left early — he got tossed from one game (for choking Sasha) and was injured partway through another. Still, there were some trends and things we can pick up. For example, the Nuggets didn’t
